Parkside Community Association
2318 Main Street
The Parkside Community Association (PCA), a 501c3 not-for-profit, is the largest membership-based community association in the City of Buffalo. Founded in 1963 to fight then-prevalent racist tactics of redlining and blockbusting, it has over the years successfully implemented programs that have contributed to the security and stability of the neighborhood, including housing code enforcement, traffic advocacy and planning on community events. The mission of the Parkside Community Association is to advocate, communicate and act on behalf of the Parkside neighborhood to preserve and enhance the quality of life. Our Communtiy Relations intern will assist in planning and execution of PCA member events and fundraising activities. Intern will also be charged with engaging the community and strengthening the membership of this organization. We are looking to implement an aggressive membership drive in 2014 and want our intern to play a vital role in the success of that campaign.
Intern will be responsible for membership communication and outreach, event planning, and donor solicitation. Some grant writing will be a part of this position, in addition to fundraising. Database management and social media outreach will also be the responsibility of this intern. The main goal of this internship is to raise our community profile and get more residents engaged in the work we do.
Preferred candidates will have an educational focus in communications, marketing, event planning, public relations, nonprofit management, grassroots organizing, community relations, government relations, or writing. Preferred candidate should also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and be comfortable working at a computer.
