Description

The Rejected Stones Resource Center is a facility designed for U.S. Veterans, single mothers with children, probationers, and parolees. The facility aspires to offer services for housing, transportation, employment resources, job training, resume preparation, Internet access for employment seeking, clothing vouchers for interviews, and other services that will facilitate the process of getting individuals back into the mainstream of society and off the fringes.
We also offer 12-step meetings, community service hours for individuals on probation and parole, classes that address some of the thinking processes and errors in thinking that have contributed to these individuals being on the fringes of society. Our approach is holistic in its scope, thereby addressing the bio, psycho, and social issues that plague individuals that have been incarcerated.
We are profoundly aware of the fact that when people get out of the mainstream of society and get into survival mode, that they acquire errors in thinking, a victim mentality, and character defects such as rationalizing destructive behavior and chemical usage satisfying distorted perceptions, denial, and a host of after psychological issues. Our goal is to dismantle these erroneous thought processes in order to restore the individual to being a productive member of society.

Responsibilities

POSITION SCOPE: The Director of Special Events, based in St. Louis, will be responsible for generating income through special event fundraising initiatives in the greater St. Louis, Southern Illinois and Southern Indiana markets.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:

Within the Rejected Stones
Works with Executive Director and volunteer teams to achieve market fundraising goals. Recruits and trains volunteer committees for each fundraising campaign and for other volunteer leadership roles.

Outside The Rejected Stones:
Cultivates contacts and relationships outside the Rejected Stones in order to achieve fundraising goals. This may include sponsors, vendors, major donors, key business executives, civic representatives, and professional leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conducting sales calls to corporations and organizations to generate new business and manage existing relationships.
Goal setting with corporations, teams, and individuals to raise money.
Working with volunteers to achieve fundraising goals within company accounts and as part of fundraising event leadership.
Develop effective working relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders.
Recruit, manage and motivate volunteers to recruit event participants to raise money.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to achieve fundraising results.
Ability to cultivate and maintain long-term donor/customer relationships.
Bright, outgoing personality with excellent organizational and communication skills
Must be highly motivated, flexible, proactive. Strong time and project management needed.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision; must be proactive self-starter.
Occasional weekend work required.
Valid Driver's License and access to an insured automobile.
Proficient knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office software, internet based applications, and computer equipment needed.

Requirements

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
*Motivating and facilitating supporters to maximize the funds they raise;
*Inspiring new supporters to donate and/or funds, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters;
*Organizing traditional activities, such as sponsored outdoor events and house-to-house collections of donated goods and money;
*Developing new and imaginative fundraising activities, which may involve organizing events;
*Raising awareness of the charity and its work at local and national levels, e.g. by giving talks to groups or seeking photo opportunities with the media;
*Developing and coordinating web-based fundraising, online auctions and merchandise sales;
*Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity's aims and activities;
*Developing and implementing a strategy for individual and corporate supporter recruitment and development;
*Recruiting, organizing and managing volunteers to carry out various functions within the charity;
*Overseeing corporate fundraising, including employee giving and matched giving from employers;
*Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information;
*Writing applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a wide range of potential and current donors;
*Making risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success.
