DescriptionEach March, the Boston Jewish Music Festival present some 20 events across Greater Boston, from performances in clubs concert halls to workshops at colleges and senior centers. Help plan and manage the 2015 Boston Jewish Music Festival. Do you have what it takes to take an idea and make it happen? We are looking for 2 interns to work in the following areas:
1. Event Coordination
Be involved in every aspect of what it takes to produce a successful cultural event.
2. Partnership Outreach
The 2015 Festival will focus on cross-cultural Jewish music with events like a Klezmer-Salsa Concert, Yiddish and Irish songs of Immigration, and Music of Hindu and Jewish religions. We need help making connections to the many community groups we want to work with.
ResponsibilitiesEvent Coordinator will assist the Director on all aspects of specific event production, from securing the facility and sound system to coordinating artist accommodations and hospitality. We will make every effort to match which events you work on with your personal interests.
Partnership Coordinator will research and initiate contact with various organizations that may be interested in working with BJMF on a cross cultural event marketing. We expect to make meaningful connections with cvultural groups in the Indian, Latin, Irish and Interfaith communities.
RequirementsTo get the most of your experience here, we are looking for people with the following skills and interest:
1. MUST be able to work virtually but be in the Greater Boston area. We have no offices so you'll work out of your living space and we meet at places that serve good coffee or lunch.
2. Our best interns have been independent and self directed. If you agree to a deadline, you must meet it. You must be good at communicating what you want to learn and do and then go out and do it.,
3. Interest in music and how music can help build community
4. Writing skills
5. Sense of humor
