Field InternBookmark This
DescriptionThe Field Department of Equality Texas coordinates and encourages the activism of Equality Texas members statewide to advocate and lobby for the elimination of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Activism occurs through Equality Texas events, student clubs, and the e-mail action center network and member activists. Our activities to advance LGBT civil rights include Lobby Day at the Capitol, organizing phone banks, volunteer recruitment & retention, and staffing information tables. Field Interns are utilized year-round to assist the department in achieving its goals.
We are currently seeking interns for the Spring Semester. The minimum time commitment for academic year interns is one semester. Interns are encouraged to earn credit for their time, but volunteers are welcome as well. Average hours per week are 12-20 hours with flexibility for actual days worked. All positions are non-paid. People with experience in community organizing or grassroots organizations preferred.
This internship is primarily based out of our local headquarters. The Equality Texas office is located in downtown Austin within walking distance to the State Capitol.
