DescriptionThe Smithsonian Institution's Office of Advancement has available unpaid internships for students with an interest in fundraising and/or a development-oriented career. Internships are available in the fields of Programming & Stewardship, Corporate & Foundation Relations, Prospect Development, Prospect Management, Membership, Campaign Volunteer Management, Regional Major Gifts, and Planned Giving. Duties vary depending on area of work.
The ideal candidate should be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week, will be someone who can take initiative and work independently, and will require limited supervision. Internships require strong research, analytical, computer and writing skills. Familiarity with Excel, Word and databases is very helpful.
