Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala
1904 Franklin Street, Suite 901
DescriptionThe Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) links people in the U.S. and Guatemala in the grassroots global struggle for justice, human dignity and respect for the Earth. Formed at the height of Guatemala's war in 1981, NISGUA's network today is comprised of thousands of people across the U.S. who demand justice for genocidal crimes of the past, push to change current U.S. policies, challenge corporate-led development in Guatemala, and advocate for grassroots alternatives.
The US-Based Development Intern provides versatile support for NISGUA staff in the Oakland Office. The intern works closely with NISGUA's US Operations Coordinator, NISGUA's local Bay Area network of volunteers, activists, and supporters as well as Guatemala-based staff.
This unpaid internship provides an opportunity to work on substantive projects within a number of different program areas, including publication of activist materials, campaign and program development, and research on key human rights topics. Furthermore, the position includes experience with administrative processes, grassroots base-building, and organizing events and trainings. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work for human rights during a particularly intense moment in Guatemala and world history!
The minimum internship length is three months, and interns are asked to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
