DescriptionBackground: Choice Pantry and Family Stability service over 13,000 adults and children annually, with major clients groups including working poor, seniors, transitional welfare recipients, single high-needs individuals, and the temporarily unemployed. Forty percent of the food program beneficiaries are children. The internship position will assist in provide quality services to this clientele.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions: In consultation with Choice Pantry Supervisor, FSS Coordinator and other program staff, the Choice Pantry and/or FSS Intern will be involved in the following tasks:
•Assist with signing up families from CSSMV pantry and senior departments that qualify for Holiday Help-A-Family Christmas Program
•File Community Resources
•Answer Family Stability and Support program phone line and return calls to assist clients and make referrals
•Officially close FSS inactive case files
•Provide case management for new and active FSS clients
•Provide pantry assistance in the areas of intake, hospitality host, pantry management team and/or community workshops
•Working toward and Associates or Bachelors degree in social work or related field
•Ability to work with diverse populations and treat all with dignity and respect
•Ability to communicate with pantry clients and build relationships
•Ability to network with other persons or agencies to meet client needs/goals
•Ability to plan creatively and collaboratively with volunteers and referring agencies
•No religious affiliation necessary
Must be available two afternoons for a semester or more from 1-5pm, during the week. This program will move to full days starting in Summer of 2015.
