Have Dreams is a Chicago-area autism resource organization serving children, teens and young adults with autism. Have Dreams offers individualized after-school classes, vocational, life skills and transition to employment programs, along with diagnostic and family support services. Our continuum of services supports individuals from early childhood through adulthood, and we offer a broad range of programs to serve the full range of the autism spectrum.

• Academic credit may be arranged at the discretion of the academic institution
• Experience at an autism not for profit, the fastest growing developmental disability in the US
• Advance one’s professional communication skills
• Gain knowledge of the internal operations of a not for profit with special attention to annual giving, special events, and volunteer services
• Acquire knowledge of and experience with Salesforce, a database used broadly within nonprofit and profit industries
• Further develop the ability to manage projects
• Letters of recommendation provided upon successful completion of the internship

REPORTS TO: Chief Director of Development


RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Development Department in its marketing, public relations, research and stewardship of prospects and donors to achieve its goals.
• Update the Have Dreams website with emphasis on Search engine optimization (SEO)
• Update Have Dreams information across the web to ensure accuracy
• Research individual, corporate and foundation prospects using Foundation Directory Online and other resources
• Help our Young Professionals Board in the execution and planning of events
• Coordinate efforts within the department to maintain archives of relevant materials
• Update patron database, Salesforce
• Assist at special events as needed
• Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS: High level of attention to detail and accuracy, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a positive, professional attitude. 15 – 25 hours a week. Excellent Microsoft Office skills are a must. Minimum commitment: 8 weeks between June 1 and August 15.
