Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event. At Relay For Life, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds raised truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!
The American Cancer Society's Cherry Hill Office seeks an intern to coordinate with American Cancer Society staff and Relay For Life committee members, team members, and other participants. The intern will gain in-depth knowledge of event management: team recruitment, sponsorship recruitment, logistics, marketing, event activities, and volunteer management. Responsibilities will directly impact the efficiency and success of more than 20 local Relay For Life events.
ResponsibilitiesAssisting income development department with our Relay For Life events.
Tasks may include: Research, PR placement, data entry, website management, cold calls, securing of in-kind donations, preparataion of materials, volunteer recruitment, updating databases, and other office duties as needed.
Intern will gain knowledge of working in a non-profit environment. Will also learn event management: team recruitment, sponsorship recruitment, logistics, marketing, day of event activities, and volunteer management.
RequirementsBasic computer skills, including MS Office.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
Event management experience helpful, but not mandatory.
Detail-oriented, accurate, and organized.
Professional, dependable, resourceful, able to meet project deadlines, and goal-oriented.
High level of integrity.
Excellent time management skills.
