Tell Every Amazing Lady's (T.E.A.L.) mission is to promote awareness of the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, to enable early detection, and to help find the cure for this deadly disease.
T.E.A.L. is a grassroots organization started by two sisters with a passion to make a difference in the world. We draw attention to this critical disease, which is the leading cause of death among gynecological cancers, through our annual T.E.A.L. Walk and other events throughout the year. Since 2009, T.E.A.L. has raised over $287,000 directly benefitting Ovarian Cancer research.
After Louisa M. McGregor’s Ovarian Cancer diagnosis in 2007, she and her sister Pamela Esposito-Amery started Tell Every Amazing Lady, or T.E.A.L. Their drive to create an organization like T.E.A.L. was propelled by the realization that doctors lack the knowledge, understanding, and tools to detect the disease early, when survival chances are best. They began to understand that as a result of the absence of Ovarian Cancer research funding, women across the country lacked the awareness, treatment options, and ability to diagnose: all factors incredibly vital to these women in order to overcome the disease. Without this funding, the cure for Ovarian Cancer seemed hopelessly far. Tell Every Amazing Lady is an organization with the goal to speed the progress of both research and understanding, and bring the cure for Ovarian Cancer closer to our present.
We currently have no major corporate funding, no grants, and no spokesperson, but have still been able to raise a significant amount of money for research in a very short amount of time. In the years since T.E.A.L.’s inception, many major institutions and corporations have begun to take notice of our importance to the community. In 2012, Citi Field partnered up with Tell Every Amazing Lady for the first ever Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day, and on that day T.E.A.L. received a Spirit Award from the New York Mets. Tell Every Amazing Lady also established its own grant at the University of Washington. T.E.A.L’s scientific advisory board includes members from NY Presbyterian and Lenox Hill Hospitals, and several major corporations have sponsored T.E.A.L.’s annual Walk. Non-profit rating website Guidestar gave T.E.A.L. an average rating of 5 out of 5 stars, thanks to glowing personal reviews by users. Since September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, the T.E.A.L. Walk is an annual event that takes place every September in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York.
Unfortunately, Louisa lost her four year battle with the disease in March 2011. We are determined now more than ever to promote awareness and make T.E.A.L. grow until everyone in America knows that teal is the color that symbolizes Ovarian Cancer.
Responsibilities- Utilizes social media to engage with a community of fans/followers online
- Coordinates online marketing and advertising campaigns
- Collaborates with internal departments on projects and assignments
- Demonstrates interest in social media and how media and communication strategies can continuously engage the online community
Requirements- Provide links to 1-3 social networking profiles to demonstrate interest and knowledge
- Possesses skills in writing, presentation, interpersonal relations, and customer management
