DescriptionDo you love animals? The Humane League works to protect all animals through public education and outreach campaigns. We have staffed offices serving the greater metro regions of Philadelphia, Boston, Maryland, Dallas, Charlotte, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, South Florida, Denver, and San Diego, and our work for animals extends nationwide. Our primary focus is on farmed animal issues. Farmed animals represent over 98% of the animals used and killed in the United States, and because they are excluded from state anti-cruelty laws, they suffer intensely on today's "factory farms."
Interning with the Humane League is a great way to gain valuable job experience in the non-profit field while at the same time helping to create a more compassionate world for animals. Our grassroots, results-oriented work provides our interns with meaningful experiences and work skills that can apply to numerous fields in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors.
ResponsibilitiesAs an intern, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects, including:
-Raising awareness by leafleting and tabling at colleges, festivals and concert venues
-Distributing pro-veg magazines around the city
-Working with restaurants to implement new vegan items on the menu
-Organizing and attending a diverse array of fundraising events
- Using your social media , research and writing skills
The Humane League is a very active animal advocacy organization, so you will be working on a wide variety of projects that require your dedication and hard work. All interns must be available for at least one month, 15 hours a week for part-time interns, and up to 40 hours a week for full-time. In rare occassions, full-time interns can be provided with free housing, but interns who can provide for their own housing will be given priority. Internships are typically unpaid but stipends are occasionally provided based on need.
