DescriptionBallet Detroit is looking for an intern to join our team and be a part of the development of a world-class ballet organization in downtown Detroit. Led by acclaimed artistic director Sergey Rayevskiy, Ballet Detroit offers Vaganova method classical ballet education in Detroit for the serious ballet dancer. In the beautiful setting of the studios at the Detroit Opera House, Ballet Detroit provides the highest quality instructors and professionals from around the world to offer students the training, exposure and performance opportunities required to be a high quality professional ballet dancer. Admission and placement is by audition. As a member of the International Dance Council CID, Paris, Mr. Rayevskiy collaborates with dance organizations from around the world to offer instruction and performance opportunities in Detroit and abroad.
The benefits to the intern are exciting and important . The intern will be a part of the growth of a premier Ballet organization in downtown Detroit including being a part of the development of the Ballet Detroit brand, working with dance professionals who care deeply about developing dancers and producing quality work, and working on the production of high quality professional and student dance productions. In return, the intern should bring essential skills to this position: excellent communications, computer skills, attention to detail, strong social media awareness, the ability to work independently on important projects, and most importantly, a passion for classical ballet. Experience with dance, the arts, marketing, Microsoft Office, knowledge of graphic design would be beneficial.
Work hours are somewhat flexible, but most take place Mondays-Fridays between 4:30 and 8:30 at Ballet Detroit at the Detroit Opera House. The expectation is for a commitment of 8-10 hours per week.
ResponsibilitiesThe intern hired for this position should expect to be involved in the growth and development of this organization. Primary areas of focus and learning include working with the Artistic Director, assisting with operations, communications on behalf of the school both locally and abroad, and leveraging social media platforms.
