Description

Are you interested in a career in nonprofit fundraising? It's all about cultivating and maintaining relationships with successful people who have the means and inclination to support a worthwhile cause. The skills in play in nonprofit fundraising/development are broadly transferable to many other endeavors, in nonprofits, in business and in government. You should be based in New York City. You'll work from home generally but also meet frequently and work directly with your supervisor.

Besides the great experience you will get, you will love us--the cause you will be helping. We’re a wholly unique news organization. We're nonprofit. We don't take ads. We don't promote a partisan angle or push predictable views. We do dig deep, think hard, read a lot of history, ask a lot of questions, steer clear of establishment or consensus journalism, and write up what we find with verve. It’s interesting, cool, meaningful work — and as a Development Apprentice for us, you’ll be playing a crucial role in our growth and development. Plus, we are a friendly bunch, cultivating a warm and supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

If you'd like to develop into a world-class Development Associate, our Apprentice Program could be for you. You work hours that you determine, from your own location, but you receive heavy tutelage and direction from superb managers. You'll come out of this lean and mean and ready for anything that comes your way.

Please send us your resume and a cover letter showing that you've studied our site carefully and explaining why you think you would be a good fit.

As mentioned, we are looking for those based in New York City, but would consider exceptional individuals located elsewhere for totally remote work.

Small stipend possible after initial training period, based in part on results.
