Description

The Neighborhood Developers is a Community Development Corporation (CDC) that believes that great neighborhoods empower people to grow and prosper. We were founded in 1979 and for our first 25 years, developing great, affordable places to live in Chelsea was our primary area of activity.

Field Canvasser for Local Political Campaign
Local Political Campaign – Chelsea, MA

Canvassers Needed for Local Political Campaign - Starting Immediately-$500 stipend available

We are seeking energetic, responsible canvassers based in the Greater Boston area to help educate and engage the Chelsea community in a local issue oriented campaign to preserve open spaces, historic sites, and affordable housing through the Community Preservation Act.

Previous canvassing experience preferred, but not required. Spanish-speaking/bilingual applicants encouraged to apply!

Training
You will receive training from the Field Organizer and will be given all the tools needed to succeed.

Timing & Location
All positions are temporary with flexible hours and start immediately going through election day. We are based in Chelsea, MA working out of The Neighborhood Developers, 4 Gerrish Ave, Chelsea MA 02150. Close to major bus lines and the community rail. Transit to campaign sites will be provided as needed.

• Perform canvassing and direct community outreach
• Contact and educate local organizations, businesses and residents
• Work with a team of canvassers with flexible hours
• Attend community and public meetings
• Communicate directly with supporters in-person and on the phone

Requirements

Qualifications
• Good people and communication skills
• Work well within a team
• Work on a flexible schedule as needed
• Strong self-direction and ability to take initiative
• Familiarity with housing issues, Latino populations and community preservation are preferred, but not required

Skills

Required - Strong interpersonal skills, Telephone Interviewing, Door to Door, Campaigns
Preferred - Bilingual-English/Spanish, Organization & prioritization skills, Policy Research, Communication Skills, Press Relations
