DescriptionRedeemUs Essex A NJ Nonprofit Corporation is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization established to provide human services to the homeless community throughout Essex, Hudson, Passaic and parts of Union County, New Jersey including the City of Elizabeth, and Township of Plainfield.
RedeemUs Social Services is fully committed to actively attending to the needs of the homeless. Dedicated to the principle that everyone should have an address, RedeemUs Social Services successfully restores those in need of emergency supportive housing and additionally providing seasonal warming and cooling stations. Other RedeemUs Social Services include: real-time on the street outreach and agency referrals, acute medical assistance and needs assessment, psychological treatment including emotional and grief counseling. Special attention is paid to acute cases, veterans and families. In addition, job preparedness training, interviewing training and job referrals are also provided.
ResponsibilitiesOn-site services and support;
Communicate observations and information about the resident to the RedeemUs Essex team;
Supervising, organizing and supporting recreational and/or socialization activities;
Provide transportation, residential counseling, and crisis intervention services;
Participate in the development of the comprehensive housing plans and updating of plans in a timely manner;
Document observation, information and services provided to the resident in progress notes;
Monitoring of service delivery to meet resident’s changing needs and advocacy with community programs as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director and/or Covering Supervisor
RequirementsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline;
Combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience together equaling four years (individual is required to have at least one year of related work or life experience if the four years of college does not meet the above listed requirements);
High School or GED plus four years of related work or life experience.
Demonstrated experience in working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse issues.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekend and holiday hours.
Valid driver’s license in good standing.
