Freedom Ladder is a nonprofit with the mission to make the world safer for young people by empowering them through popular entertainment. Our manga (comic book) "Abolitionista!" was created with the help of the FBI and educates young people about the issue of human trafficking and equips them to protect themselves. Are you a comic book enthusiasts who is looking for an opportunity to use both your interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for a great cause? Then you have found the perfect opportunity! Freedom Ladder currently seeks a Comic Book Convention Manager to identify and attend comic book conventions to speak enthusiastically about Freedom Ladder’s comic book "Abolitionista!"

Hours are flexible and negotiable.

Responsibilities

Research, identify and attend comic book conventions in NYC
Speak enthusiastically about "Abolitionista!" to engage potential volunteers and/ or supports
Organize and gather materials for comic book convention participation
Serve as the primary contact for comic book convention invitations
Register Freedom Ladder for comic book conventions
Create and maintain sign-up sheets for comic book convention to capture interested supporters’ contact information
Distribute flyers containing information on upcoming Freedom Ladder events
Organize and run convention booth
Establish and maintain relationship with online comic book communities
Post our activities on social media

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess some general knowledge of comic book and comic book conventions. In addition, he or she:
Enjoys meeting and networking with people
Feels strongly passionate about creating a safer environment for children. You feel that it is important to bring about awareness towards the dangers regarding human trafficking and the very ways that one may protect themselves.
Has prior experience attending comic book convention. This is preferred but not required.
Has the ability and skills to engage others in Freedom Ladder’s cause
