Description

This position works closely with the Director of Prevention Programs, the Community Coalition Coordinator and Alliance on Underage Drinking (ALOUD) volunteers to implement evidence-based environmental strategies targeting adolescents and young adults on the state’s primary prevention priority, underage and young adult binge drinking, and secondary priorities, marijuana and prescription drugs. The coalition’s coordination is guided by the Strategic Prevention Framework which includes needs assessment, community mobilization, strategic planning, program implementation and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist coalition coordinator with implementing the approved, annual strategic and implementation plans
2. In conjunction with the coalition leadership, provide key administrative and program support, including recruiting members for ALOUD
3. Ensure that the required number of written community agreements is obtained
4. Conduct alcohol and other drug presentations to schools, churches, civic groups and other community organizations in Dallas County
5. Disseminate printed alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drug prevention information to youth and adults in Dallas County
6. Work with other coalition members to engage community stakeholders and ensure that all community sectors are represented as required by the Community Coalition Program (CCP) program
7. Work with coalition on policy change and other environmental strategies
8. Solicit donations for coalition activities

Requirements


EDUCATION/TRAINING
1. Bachelors degree preferred
2. Public relations/marketing experience preferred
3. Experience in alcohol, marijuana and other drug prevention preferred
4. Experience in community health preferred
5. Experience in volunteer management preferred
6. Computer and Internet experience required (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point); Microsoft Access and Publisher experience preferred

CHARACTERISTICS/EXPERIENCE
1. Strong presentation skills and meeting facilitation experience
2. Detail oriented with ability to plan, organize, set priorities and achieve objectives
3. Available to work nights and weekends as needed
4. Willingness to travel in service area
5. Personal vehicle with applicable Texas insurance required
