DescriptionAs a statewide chamber of commerce, our volunteers have the ability to work in either the Richmond or Vienna office. The volunteer will participate in community/local neighborhood events. The volunteer is responsible for staying up-to-date on the variety of services and opportunities in the greater area of their respective location. Volunteers will represent the VAHCC at selected events and answer questions about the organization while manning tables or other forms of outreach. Intern will also maintain and communicate with a list of regional Hispanic organizations on behalf of VAHCC.
Potential volunteers should have solid skills in communication. An ideal candidate will be a quick learner with genuine interest in engaging the Latino community. Volunteers may be responsible for the following:
• Effectively communicate, written and verbally, with peers, staff and public. Maintain a positive attitude while helping the community.
• Reliable transportation. Performance targets related to event.
• Professionally and personably handle phone calls to members, agencies and
individuals on behalf of organization. Openly support our mission and vision.
• May occasionally place phone calls to clients, agencies and institutions to research
information and events.
• Conscientiously submit reports related to event measurement indicators and discuss
them regularly with Engagement Coordinator.
• Provide receptionist duties as needed.
Additional responsibilities will be based on the volunteer's skill and qualifications and assigned by the Engagement Coordinator.
ResponsibilitiesThis provides an opportunity to develop an independent work ethic, as well as other skills related to the social services field. Additionally, volunteers will gain an understanding of the needs affecting the Latino community and improve skills such as public speaking in Spanish, organization, attention-to-detail, interpersonal communication and program facilitation.

RequirementsEducation: High school graduate.
Language: English/Spanish preferred (bilingual; written/verbal)
