DescriptionAre you a creative, education-oriented individual? Join the team at Write Local, an emerging creative writing not for profit organization, and explore the ins and outs of a career with a community arts program. No minimum degree required. College students are encouraged to apply.
In addition to a general internship (catered to your interests), we offer two internship tracks: educational programs and nonprofit administration. Please review the descriptions below.
Educational Programs Intern: as the educational programs intern, you will focus on designing student programs, working with students, developing lesson plans, publishing our students' writing, and assisting programs staff in organizing our educational programs around the community. We are an energetic, creative, and vibrant bunch, and we'd love you to bring your ideas and creativity to our team.
Requirements: -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -Must be able to complete work in a timely manner and adhere to deadlines -Experience with lesson planning is a plus -Experience with kids in a professional setting is a plus -Experience with design software is a plus -Passion for creative writing and familiarity with writing terminology are a plus.
Nonprofit Administration Intern: in the nonprofit administration track, you will gain experience in all the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a nonprofit. You'll learn about fundraising, publicity, events, writing copy, marketing, and volunteer management. This could be the perfect internship if you're interested in working in nonprofits. If you are excited to focus on events/communications or fundraising/development, please indicate your preference and why in your cover letter.
