Description

The Counseling and Case Management Intern will be responsible for working alongside University of Success staff and other Jovenes Inc. staff in order to gain experience working in a social service setting that is dedicated to serving youth experiencing homelessness. The Counseling and Case Management Intern will receive training and hands-on exposure in the areas of case management, employment assistance, and support/care.

Responsibilities

Guiding youth through the process of moving towards University of Success program completion
Performing individual service plan assessments of participating homeless youth
Leading substance abuse prevention workshops for homeless youth
Working with youth on budget and financial literacy
Researching opportunities for youth seeking employment
Assisting youth with job searches and interviews
Serving as a resource during times of crisis for youth
Participation in case management department and University of Success staff meetings
Maintaining organized records of University of Success participating youth’s progress through Google docs

Requirements

Commit to 10-20 hours a week, for a minimum of 10 weeks
Undergraduate juniors or seniors and graduate students only
Familiarity with Google docs and Microsoft Office
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
Detail oriented and highly organized
Ability to multi-task and manage time working on various projects
Self-starter who also works well on teams
Professional attitude with a friendly, positive approach
