DescriptionMaya Organization is looking for a master's level counseling or social work intern to work with incarcerated women providing trauma informed counseling services. Maya Organization is especially sensitive to vulnerable women who had their rights to their children relinquished voluntarily or involuntarily. Many of the women who have had their rights relinquished have been incarcerated repeatedly
ResponsibilitiesWork with incarcerated women who are separated from their children.
Provide trauma informed counseling.
Perform diagnostic assessments to determine a recipient’s eligibility for mental health services;
Maintain ethical and confidential standards according to APA Guidelines.
Document client progress and data in health records in compliance with Agency standards and deadlines;
Maintain Agency productivity standards;
Respond appropriately to crisis situations and rapid screen needs of clients;
Compliance with all reporting mandates including duty to warn, child protection and vulnerable adult situations, and ombudsman incidents.
Participate in meetings conducive to Community Mental Health:
Meet with the Clinic Manager for regularly scheduled supervision;
Participate in one hour weekly multidisciplinary team meeting for care consultations;
Contribute to peer reviews.
RequirementsMust have complete practicum.
Must be in a master's level internship class in counseling or social work.
Must have knowledge of trauma informed care.
Must be free of felonies and able to obtain security clearance for jail and prison institutions.
