DescriptionGuitars Over Guns Organization (GOGO) provides mentoring to at-risk youth in Miami and Chicago through music education and performance as an alternative to the negative and harmful influences that often dominate their environments. Our programs target the most vulnerable students, pairing them with professional musicians who use contemporary music to reach and teach the skills necessary to unleash their potential to be leaders, both in and out of school.

The ideal candidate is someone who is interested in music/art and community outreach programs with youth. The position will be a mix of in-office and independent (from home) work and require a candidate that can be very independent in a fast paced, forward-thinking, and vibrant non-profit environment.
*GOGO's headquarters is located in downtown Miami, FL; our development office and Director of Development are located in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, IL. Position will require considerable coordination and collaboration with our team in Miami.
-Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
-Help maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files.
-Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
-Continually update and correct database records.
-Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
-Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and year-end appeal letters.
-Create donor-centric blog entries for website
-Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fund-raising events.
-Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
-Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
-Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
RequirementsThe Development Assistant is responsible for many administrative aspects of development and outreach activities but will also entail numerous learning objectives across various organizational departments. This position plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Development Office and participates in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations, direct mail appeals, and special events.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, can navigate and use Google Drive
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills
Outstanding sense of humor and work ethic
