The Open Media Foundation (OMF) is an innovative media and technology nonprofit organization dedicated to putting the power of the media in the hands of the people, enabling everyone to engage in their community and bring about the change they wish to see in the world. We empower nonprofits, governments, and individuals to shift the media conversation (and thus social awareness) from the corporate interests of our commercial media system towards the human interests of an open, diverse, engaged public. To accomplish our mission, we begin with providing affordable, high-end media and technology services. We follow up by offering training and tools that enable everyone to represent their own voice in the media conversation.

Responsibilities

The Open Media Foundation is growing and we're searching for a motivated individual to help expand our outreach program to meet our increasing needs. This position is for someone interested in learning all the aspects of marketing, networking, fundraising and outreach for a non-profit organization. Tasks will focus on building diversity into outreach efforts, which in turn will build a strong base of different types of supporters including members, students, donors, watchers, supporters and champions within the community. Other tasks might include assisting in planning annual spring fundraising breakfast and December Silent Auction and VIP dinner event, assisting with the data migration into our new CRM system (SalesForce), developing speaking tours, videos and table displays, develop community outreach programs, promote memberships & classes, promoting underwriting packages to businesses and organizations, acquiring sponsorships, event planning and working with other interns and volunteers. They may be asked to contact donors, write letters and newsletter updates, support volunteers and help with office maintenance.

Requirements

This position requires someone who is highly motivated, self-directed and has good initiative; asks questions when needs direction, is pro-active; is a good writer & has good communication skills; has strong organizational skills, flexibility, creativity, and confidence, is able to communicate with a diverse community, is knowledgable & comfortable with both Mac & PC Operating systems, and has a passion for media, social change, has impeccable attention to detail. Grant-writing experience is not required, but preferred.
