DescriptionThe mission of Center for Inquiry–Michigan is to foster a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values. CFI–MI works to accomplish this mission through educational events for members & the public, as well as outreach, social, family events, and community service. Learn more at www.cfimichigan.org.
This is an ON-SITE, unpaid internship. Applicants must live within driving distance of the CFI–Michigan offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and have their own reliable transportation.
The Event Planning Intern will work directly with the Assistant Director of CFI–Michigan to plan and facilitate educational programming and social events, as well as assist with program development and day-to-day operations of CFI–Michigan.
ResponsibilitiesEvent Planning: organize and facilitate events with CFI Staff and volunteers.
Program Development: work with Advisory board to develop action plans for implementing strategic planning goals, and new programming/events.
Volunteer management: assist in training and coordinate volunteers for events.
Membership/Donor management: help increase membership engagement and donor retention through communicating with members and assisting with membership renewals/donation processing.
Office Administration: assist with database management, accounting, website updates, social media, and event publicity/marketing.
RequirementsPursuing a degree or experience in event planning, non-profit administration/management, business, education, or related field is preferred.
Must have excellent computer and writing skills: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency using internet based programs is required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is helpful.
Must be a reliable, self-motivated and independent worker who is also comfortable working in small and large group situations, as well as various work environments, and in management roles as needed.
Comfortable communicating and promoting the mission of Center for Inquiry with members and the public.
