Description

Overview:
North Shore Animal League America is seeking an Events and Corporate and Foundation Fundraising Intern to work in our Fundraising/Events Department. He or she will gain a working knowledge of Fundraising and Event operations in a
non-profit organization.

Job Description

• This internship is designed to provide support in the Events and Corporate and Foundation Giving Department that will provide an intern with exposure to a broad array of functions that relate to successfully executed events and the development of mutually beneficial corporate sponsorships. Foundation philanthropy will also be an area of research and organizational support for reporting and record keeping.
Method of Supervision
• Daily review of assignments
• Progress updates weekly
• Open-door policy of Events staff and VP Event Promotion and Corporate and Foundation Giving as issues, challenges, and opportunities arise
• Monthly review of progress

Additional Information:
• You will participate in training during the first week of your internship. This training program will expose you to our culture and provide you with a knowledge base to draw upon throughout the remainder of your internship and beyond.


Responsibilities

Assist in event logistic coordination for both fundraising and national outreach events
• Assist Events VP and Manager as needed
• Research and prospecting for potential funding sponsors using data bases and search engines available through department subscriptions to these widely used and respected resources.
• Prepare summary reports on prospects
• Filing, copying and other administrative tasks to assure data integrity compliance for fundraising department
• Solicitations for auction items and journal ads for major events
• Participate in brain-storming strategy meetings to increase participation in events and develop initiatives including a cross section of other creative departments (public relations, graphics, web marketing, social media, among others)
• Take and summarize notes from creative strategy meetings with multiple departments
• Participate in development of compelling cases for corporate sponsorships
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements
Adept in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
Excellent internet, telephone and customer service skills.
