Description

The ALS Association is the only national non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure. Hours Per Week: 15-20
Wage: Intern will receive $200 stipend for the semester.
Time frame: Fall Semester (September 2016 - December 2016), Possibly Winter Semester (January 2016-May 2016)


Responsibilities

The events/ development intern will assist the development staff to support The Association’s efforts in fundraising, donor relations, community relations, and communications. The events/ development intern will:
● Assist in the preparation for events, including a gala and Walk to Defeat ALS events throughout the state
● Support the development team with writing various communication materials, including flyers, brochures, and emails
● Assist the development team with maintaining communication with donors, patients, and supporters by phone, email, and in person
● Assist in recruiting and maintaining relationships with volunteers
● Assist in maintaining and monitoring the organization’s social media presence

Requirements

● Current student seeking a career in non-profit, event planning or related field
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Proven organizational skills
● Self-motivated
● Eager to learn
● Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
● Familiarity with various social media platforms

Skills

Required - Communication Skills, Self Motivated, Organization & prioritization skills
Preferred - MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Social Media
