The Disability Partnership Project was officially founded in fall 2015. It is a 501c3 community-based non-profit organization that seeks to provide support with the social, health and economic issues that are often faced by persons living with paralysis and/or a physical disability. We use a social entrepreneurship approach to draw upon business techniques and find solutions to the social problem of physical disability.
According to a recent CDC-funded study, there are nearly 1 in 50 people living with paralysis. This is approximately 1.9% of the U.S. population, or some 5,596,000 people, who report some form of paralysis or physical disability based on its functional definition. Chronic paralysisof all forms, not just traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI), is a long-term health, economic, and social issue worldwide (National Spinal Cord Injury Database, 2001; Dijkers et al., 2000).
We need your help to develop and launch this inspiring new organization. Looking for volunteers in marketing and communications, event planning, web development, administration and partnership development.
ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a driven Intern to help develop a non-profit organization. The goal is to utilize marketing and communication strategies to develop content, build awareness and help create a marketable brand for the organization.
Essential Job Functions
- Creating event and product excitement through daily promotions, marketing, pr and sales strategies.
- Assisting with planning special events.
- Assisting with social media.
- Developing and implementing marketing and communication tactics.
- Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
- Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking
High School graduate required.
Candidate should be working toward a degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, graphic design, organizational communications, English or advertising.
Must be currently enrolled in a 4 year college.
RequirementsWe expect interns to work 15-20 hours/week with flexible hours Monday-Friday.
All candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents. Must have some experience in marketing and communication, or web site development and project management.
