DescriptionThe Mission of the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance is to promote awareness and early detection of ovarian cancer through advocacy and education while providing support to people affected by ovarian cancer.
Ovarian Cancer is the deadliest of the gynecological cancers and the 5th largest cause of death for women in the U.S. Many of these deaths can be prevented through early diagnosis! Help us educate women and their doctors about the sneaky symptoms of this killer disease.
We are looking for an intern who can help us achieve our mission. While this is a unpaid internship, terms of service are open. This position will not require going to get coffee or being a personal assistant. Our interns play a useful and productive role, and will have the opportunity learn more about activism and grow their knowledge of Non-Profits, fundraising, and social media uses.
The intern will support the programs of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance in various aspects including fundraising:
Maintaining and updating prospect lists
Reviewing trends in monthly giving and creating reports
Researching individual prospects and developing prospect lists
Assist staff in preparing for statewide Awareness Programs
Prepare Awareness Packets for Media, Doctor’s Offices, and Medical Facilities
Assist staff in coordinating delivery of “Comfort Kits” for newly diagnosed women
Assist Development Committee in creating best practices media plan for Development prospecting.

RequirementsBasic Qualifications Are:
A passion for helping others
Solid computer skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written/oral communication and strong interpersonal skills
Strong customer service and attention to details
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a demonstrated ability to accomplish multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines
Previous volunteer experience is a plus
Bilingual in Spanish would be a real help
