DescriptionFuture for Farato supports the educational needs of 100 poor children in the Gambia, West Africa. We have been a 501 C 3 since 2009. My husband and I have a board and a group of friends and neighbors who are devoted supporters.
The charity pays tuitions, uniform fees, tutoring fees for our 100 students. We have also built and maintain a small library. The library is the heartbeat of the village and it is full of kids all day, every day.
Without our help, our kids would have to drop out of school. Their families survive just one crisis away from hunger. Unemployment is widespread. Families have simple houses without sanitation or power. Health care is nonexistent for those without money.
We are looking for compassionate young people who can raise money for our charity. We are open to many ideas of fundraising. Our West African students are charming, intelligent and hard working. They deserve a decent education and it will be your job to bring that story to life to motivate donors. There are so many stories to help illustrate the need to help these kids. I am willing to share!
Because my husband and I are in our seventies, we hope that other NGOs will become part of the Farato community. To this end, we have begun building a modest 2 bedroom house to accommodate interns and volunteers. The new house is a vital part of the plan going forward. The building requires a much larger budget than we currently have, so this is where you come in.
