Latinitas, the nonprofit dedicated to empowering the next generation of young Latina leaders to reach their fullest potential, is currently recruiting Girl Empowerment Fellows. Through the Girl Empowerment Fellowship, female college students gain leadership experience, develop communication skills, build media expertise, practice public speaking skills and learn presentation and facilitation techniques. Our girl empowerment fellows share their talents and utilize these skills as they serve as role models and mentors in creating and leading girl empowerment programs for pre-teen and teen girls enrolled in Latinitas.


Responsibilities include:
• Organizing a girl empowerment conference
• Developing and implementing girl empowerment curriculum
• Creating a leadership training program
• Facilitating girl talk presentations in the community
• Leading after-school clubs, workshops or summer camps
• Mentoring Latina youth
• Developing collaborations with local youth organizations
• Hosting special events for youth
• Planning and implementing a spring break camp for Latinitas
• Organizing field trips and guest speakers
• Garnering in-kind and financial support for events


This position requires 10 hours of work per week. Must be available at least two afternoons (4-6pm) a week. We offer
for-credit internships. This is a non-paid intern position, but the experience is priceless. The ideal intern will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. Prior experience working with youth is preferred. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative. We are looking for a self-starter who is able to work independently and is willing to take advantage of this opportunity to develop their professional skills. Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. Training will be given as necessary.
