The Heart of America is a nonprofit organization that creates vibrant learning environments in schools across the country. We have revitalized more than 357 educational spaces and provided over four million educational resources including books and technology to children in under-served communities.
We are looking for the right candidate to help support our headquarters team of six. The intern candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Duties include basic office and program support as well as warehouse assistance as needed.
This internship provides the right candidate with a supportive learning environment to enhance office skills and learn about the nonprofit world among a team of caring individuals. Students interested in the fields of teaching, nonprofit management, library science and public policy will find this internship very beneficial.

ResponsibilitiesDay to day tasks include office support including helping to answer phones and other office related tasks. Programmatic support includes assisting project managers prepare for on site projects at schools and organizations that serve students in need and preparing books in the warehouse for distribution to sites. There may be opportunities to travel to school sites to learn volunteer management.
