Description

The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CHRCL) is a Los Angeles non-profit organization that focuses its work on the civil and human rights of insular minorities and vulnerable communities.

Our organization initiates and conducts impact class action litigation, provides technical support to other providers of legal services, and engages in advocacy work on selected issues impacting vulnerable low-income groups with legal injuries. Several of our projects are described at our web sites: www.centerforhumanrights.org and www.casa-libre.org.

For the past twenty years CHRCL has operated a homeless youth shelter which specializes in meeting the needs of unaccompanied minor children fleeing the violence of Central America. Over the years Casa Libre has seen countless children go on to be productive members of society. It is our goal to outreach to program graduates for a variety of functions.

Responsibilities

CHRCL is currently seeking volunteers and interns who are committed to creating a network of former residents to remain connected and provide a venue for current residents to see what opportunities are available to them as a result of the program. Interested individuals will have the opportunity to work in a successful nonprofit setting and get valuable experience in social work and human rights law.
