Clean Water Action
320 Miller Ave. Suite 180
Ann Arbor, MI
Posted: July 20 2016
DescriptionClean Water Action focuses on water quality issues in Michigan. We are currently campaigning around Line 5. Line 5 is 63-year-old oil pipeline running through the Straits of Mackinac. The pipeline is owned by Enbridge, whose 1,000,000 gallon oil spill in the Kalamazoo River in 2010 was the largest inland oil spill in US history. Because the Straits are the worst possible place for an oil spill, and any negative impact to the Great Lakes is a negative impact for Michigan, we are working to shut down Line 5 immediately.
Clean Water Action is an organization with nearly 300,000 members in Michigan working to empower people to take action to protect America's waters, build healthy communities and to make democracy work for all of us. For 45 years Clean Water Action has succeeded in winning some of the nation's most important environmental protections through grassroots organizing, expert policy research and political advocacy focused on holding elected officials accountable to the public.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of our staff, you would organize communities around environmental issues. Responsibilities and benefits include:
• Helping to elect environmental champions and pass legislation at the federal, state, and local levels

• Giving community members a voice by enabling them to contact their elected officials
• Gaining knowledge about environmental issues and grassroots organizing
The hours for the work are from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, or at least 3 days a week between Monday and Friday. Pay for full time is $400-515 per week. We provide full benefits for both full and part time, opportunities for travel to other offices within our network and to national conferences, and the potential for growth within the organization.
