The Writers Guild Foundation in Los Angeles is a nonprofit devoted to preserving, promoting and celebrating the art and history of writing for movies, television, and new media. Our library is open to the public and contains over 33,000 screenplays, teleplays, books, and AV materials. Learn about the history of film and television writing, special library operations, and service to the public. Three-month internship position will focus on front desk information services, management of collection materials and preparation of exhibits.
Front desk information duties include patron instruction in catalog use, retrieval of library materials, referral of reference questions to appropriate staff, processing of donated materials, including research into production details using IMDB, epguides.com, and other online sources, ability to locate and compose graphic materials into exhibits
Experience and/or coursework in entertainment media content a plus. Familiarity with current library operations a plus. The ideal applicant will have a strong interest and affinity for writers, writing, and entertainment media seen from an historical and content-creator perspective. Appreciation for libraries, archives and the importance of movies and television in the landscape of American culture is key.
