DescriptionThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency. The mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
By interning at LLS you will have the availability to work under a national organization and make a monumental difference in lives of people throughout the region. One campaign within LLS is called Light the Night. It's a celebratory walk where people from across the community gather to bring light into the darkness that is blood cancer. The internship revolves around helping plan the event, working with corporate and Friends/Family teams to ensure they raise money, and managing social media. Interns will also to be able to assist and learn from several people within the organization about how to run a successful, national campaign.
ResponsibilitiesTasks frequently change depending on the time of year and the needs of various campaigns. But a lot of work would focus on working with volunteers and making sure they have all that they need. The internship would also heavily focus on media and marketing. Helping with press releases and establishing relationships with various media outlets.
Requirements-College student interested in nonprofit work
-Comfortable being on the phones
