DescriptionThe Priory in the USA (the Priory) of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem (the Order of St John) is a 1300-member charitable organization, headquartered in downtown Washington, DC, accessible by Metro. Incorporated in 1957, its primary mission is to raise funds for the 130-year-old charitable St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group, located in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. The Priory is a significant source of funding for the Hospital Group.
The Order of St John is both an order of chivalry headed by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and an international humanitarian charity. The Priory in the USA is one of eleven Priories worldwide.
The Membership and Events Intern works with the Director of Events and Communication on matters related to membership contact, event management, mailings, and tax letters. The intern will also assist and work with the (part-time) Membership Administrator with filing, copying, and mailings. The intern will assist in the coordination of the annual conference.
-Assist with the Membership Nominations—logging nominations, entering nominations to CRM, gathering required documentation, copying, and filing
-Assist in filings and dialogue with Members
-Assist in the organization of regional events, annual meeting, and annual conference
-Assist in mailings
-Answer calls to main office phone number
Previous Work Experience:
Demonstrated ability to coordinate several administrative tasks simultaneously and maintain oversight on office matters.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Strong organizational abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Professional demeanor in appearance and manner
