Description

Our Mission
The mission of NCLD is to improve the lives of the one in five children and adults nationwide with learning and attention issues—by empowering parents and young adults, transforming schools and advocating for equal rights and opportunities. We’re working to create a society in which every individual possesses the academic, social and emotional skills needed to succeed in school, at work and in life.

Our History
Founded in 1977 by Carrie and Pete Rozelle as the Foundation for Children with Learning Disabilities, the organization provided leadership, public awareness and grants to support research and innovative practices in learning disabilities.

In 1989 the organization expanded its mission and scope of work, and changed its name to the National Center for Learning Disabilities. Anne Ford assumed the role of Chairman of the Board and led the organization for 12 years.

Internship Description
We are currently seeking applications for interns to join us for the fall 2015, spring 2016 and summer 2016 semesters.

NCLD interns will work in NCLD’s NYC office in TriBeCa and will report directly to Program Associates in the areas of Philanthropy and Development. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in gaining experience in the non-profit field, working closely with the NCLD Team on activities including fundraising and development, data management, understanding learning and attention issues and program planning. Interns will work hand-in-hand with all NCLD staff, whose expertise and guidance will assure a productive and enjoyable internship experience.

In 2001, John G. Gantz, Jr., past president of Argonaut Insurance Company, succeeded Mrs. Ford. In 2004 the leadership of NCLD was passed to Fred Poses, currently the chief executive officer of Ascend Performance Materials LLC.
