Ice Hockey in Harlem seeks a Program Intern to assist with planning for the current and upcoming program year and planning and implementation of summer programs.

ICE HOCKEY IN HARLEM is a non-profit community-based organization for youth that uses the sport of hockey to promote academic achievement, responsibility, teamwork and good character. The objective of the organization is to provide inspiration, encouragement and guidance to children leading to better life experiences, education and career opportunities. Since 1987, ICE HOCKEY IN HARLEM has enriched the lives of boys and girls from the Harlem community.

Responsibilities


• Update and organize program databases and schedules
• Individual and mass communications with parents and volunteers
• Coordinate player and volunteer applications for program year
• Assist in supervision of children at summer programs
• Other special projects

Requirements

This position requires a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. Microsoft Word and Excel will be used routinely. Candidates should be comfortable interacting with children and families from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds, and integrity and the ability to inspire trust are essential. Conversational or fluent Spanish is a plus but is not required. A background in ice hockey is not required and candidates with or without one are encouraged to apply.
