The World Is Fun (TWIF) - is not your grandparents’ charitable club. We’re a 100% volunteer-run organization here to make volunteering a fun, social experience for Seattle people, businesses and charities. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scope of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun.
Reporting to and in partnership with the Public Relations Director (Director) the Public Relations Coordinator will direct the communication of our organization.
Plan and direct development and communication of informational programs to maintain favorable public perceptions of an organization's accomplishments and agenda.
Confer with production and support personnel to produce or coordinate production of copy for events and promotions.
Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits to increase product and service awareness and to promote goodwill.
Study the objectives, promotional policies and needs of organizations to develop public relations strategies that will influence public opinion or promote ideas, products and services.
Confer with other managers to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on organizational decisions.
Prepare and deliver speeches to further public relations objectives.
Desired Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
This staff member position requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per month for a minimum of one year. We offer a lot of flexibility in when and how you complete those hours and many of the tasks and responsibilities can be done remotely, working online, at a time that is convenient for you. This position does require mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting (usually evenings).
This is a volunteer position. There will be no financial compensation. Our organization is 100% volunteer run.
