Rumi Forum is looking for dedicated individuals who can help us with our projects in the fields of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, social cohesion, social justice and pluralism. We have programming on education as well. The project assistants will work closely with directors to create programs and assist with our IT needs.
Rumi Forum was founded in 1999 with the mission to foster intercultural dialogue, stimulate thinking and exchange of opinions on supporting and fostering democracy and peace and to provide a common platform for education and information exchange. The Forum contributes to this ultimate aim by means of conferences, panel discussions, community engagement, luncheons, publications and other activities. In particular the forum has an interest in issues regarding pluralism, peace building and conflict resolution, intercultural and interfaith dialogue, social harmony and justice, civil rights and community cohesion.
ResponsibilitiesWrite, revise, and edit reports, blog posts, thought pieces, social media content, etc.
Assist in communications, public relations, marketing, and business development efforts
Editing speeches and interviews, preparing news updates for the website working with the webmaster
Following events in Washington DC related to the field of Rumi Forum
Ability to prepare press releases and contact with media is preferred
Other projects as assigned
RequirementsPursuing an undergraduate degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Sociology, Journalism, Communications, Religious studies or other related fields in the social sciences and arts.
Good writing skills for: announcements, web updates, event summaries, articles on related issues, emails to dignitaries, etc.
