Description

Iris House saves lives through comprehensive support, prevention and education services for women, families, and underserved populations affected by HIV/AIDS and other health disparities in a safe, family-centered environment by passionate, professional and culturally competent staff.

Iris House has an opportunity for a Security Officer Intern. This role will promote and provide a safe and secure environment for clients and employees while protecting property and facility. Hours for this position will be: Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 3pm and Thursday's and Friday's from 10am to 4pm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensuring all guests sign in and state reason form coming. Monitoring surveillance system. Making building tours and checking designated property to prevent vandalism, spot fires or other hazards, and control the access of unauthorized individuals. Conducts facility and premise monitoring. Provides for employee safety, including appointing volunteer escorts to accompany guests to destinations and checking for unauthorized people on the property. Monitors all functions necessary for maintaining video surveillance and alarm systems. Provides traffic control and other services for special events/functions as assigned. Prepares written time log and accident/incident reports. Emergency Response -Staffs emergency response center which monitors and responds to campus 911 calls, duress alarms, medical emergencies, fires, etc. Contacts police, fire department, etc. as needed.
Job Qualifications The following are required:
- High school diploma required
- Possession of a valid drivers license.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Successful completion of a physical exam, including drug screen.
- Willing and able to move easily at a quick pace.
- Willing and able to go up and down stairs quickly.
- Willing and able to see well in dimly and brightly lit areas.
- Willing and able to hear within the normal range.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Computer proficiency skills desirable.
- Have training in this field.
