DescriptionFor those with an expressed interest in non-profits, digital marketing, community outreach and content development, The Caregiver Space provides interns an engaging opportunity to learn about and support the makings of a burgeoning non-profit organization.
Working closely with our eclectic and geeky staff, office pup, and visionary executive director, interns will learn how to further the central goals of the organization, including:
Online marketing and analytics
Growing our caregiver community
Developing, curating and producing new caregiver content
Partnering with aligned organizations
Maintaining leadership in caregiver support services
Interns can work out of our office in Chelsea, New York, NY, remotely, or a combination of the two. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
The Caregiver Space is a small organization with a large following. As staff members we all go the extra mile to support this under-recognized community. We bring humor, passion and creativity to our work and constantly strive to grow our community and the resources we have to offer.
The Caregiver Space is a non-profit organization focused on helping family caregivers cope with the daily challenges of caregiving for a loved one. We provide an online community to supply a dedicated space for open sharing and healthy expression. Placing a strong emphasis on self-care practices, we produce and curate content to support the well-being of our community. Since founding in 2012, The Caregiver Space has built a community of over 90,000 caregivers across its website and social media platforms.

ResponsibilitiesInterns will work with staff to devise a project to work on over the course of the semester, in addition to providing assistance with day-to-day tasks. One of the goals of this internship program is for successful interns to walk away with a brag-worthy project, marketable skills, and professional connections. Potential projects include:
Working with experts to research and compose articles and resources
Developing and carrying out campaigns on Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter
Providing editing and coaching to amateur writers in our blogging and journaling programs
Day-to-day support will focus on moderating our forums and chats, responding to inquiries, providing technical support, and outreach.
RequirementsThe Caregiver Space internship requires a minimum commitment of 3-4 hours per week. You must be at least a first year student or higher at an accredited College or University with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
The best candidate for this position will have:
An interest in the mission of The Caregiver Space and a desire to further this mission through daily activities • Familiarity with family caregiving is a plus but not necessary • Excellent active listening skills • Empathetic non-judgmental perspective • Ability to work well with a wide range of populations • Strong problem-solving skills • A drive to stay organized • Social media proficiency • Articulate writing abilities
