Description

Naugatuck Youth Services, Inc. is a non-profit youth services bureau with the goal of helping all of Naugatuck's young people be "healthy, resilient & awesome." We have been a non-profit community organization for less than a year, and are looking for an intern who is passionate about working with young people and able to help us build our brand and spread positive messages throughout Naugatuck.

Responsibilities

- Utilizes social media to engage with a community of followers online from various populations: youth, young adults, parents, community leaders, business owners, and the community at large
- Coordinates online marketing, promotions, program registrations, and email newsletters
- Collaborates with internal departments and external partners on projects and assignments
- Demonstrates interest in social media and how media and communication strategies can continuously engage the online community and promote the mission of the organization
- Supervises, trains and mentors youth "assistants" with interest in the social media and communications field

Requirements

- Provide links to 1-3 social networking profiles to demonstrate interest and knowledge
- Possesses skills in writing, presentation, interpersonal relations, and exceptional service
- Performs well in environment that values creativity, flexibility, and variety
- Exhibits personal qualities, such as open-mindedness, enthusiasm, and adaptability
- Prefers challenges, fast pace, new ideas, future focus, and can work without constant supervision
- Understands importance of and has willingness to learn more about confidentiality, relationship building, and positive youth development principles
- Ability to effectively and positively supervise/mentor/train youth "assistants" who have an interest in further exploring the social media and communications field
