Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Sugarland Ethno History Project seeks a Social Media Marketing Intern-Summer 2017 for the Communications & Social Media department. Learning opportunity for a college student to engage in hands-on experience focused in Social Media Marketing for a historical organization recognized by various Smithsonians including the National African American History and Culture Museum and Library of Congress.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with publishing team across all titles to develop compelling content ideas to further engage and excite audiences.
Work with video and social media content producers to develop and market new segment ideas.
Monitor post performance and provide analysis/recaps in the form of written and verbal communication.
Provide daily email updates covering new tools, services, marketing strategies that are relevant to our business.
Present findings to the group on weekly basis; include how things have been implemented.
Other job-related duties or projects as assigned.



JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Must be currently enrolled in a college or university.
Internship for an African American history organization as a marketing support role; Advertising Agency internship or experience in digital media is preferred.
Experience in a support role for the execution team on large projects, some marketing and online media support experience.
Working knowledge of Photoshop, Indesign and Final Cut Pro is a plus.
Must be avid user of social media and understand how each platform functions.
Must possess solid creative writing skills.
Good communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills – both verbal and written.
Must be passionate about African American history.
Strong attention to detail is required.
Excellent judgment and level of accountability.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to balance, multi-task and prioritize requests and still meet deadlines.
Keen interest in digital marketing.
Must be able to maintain a positive disposition in a fast-paced environment and during demanding times.
Must be detail-oriented.
Must have good judgment.
Must be able and willing to take initiative and to problem solve as appropriate within the scope of responsibilities of this position.
