Project Pixie was created in December 2015 with the goal of engaging the community to provide donations of feminine care products for underprivileged women and girls, ensuring that all women have access to clean periods regardless of financial circumstances. Our mission is to ensure that underprivileged girls and women have access to feminine care products and we do so by engaging in direct street outreach and through partnerships with organizations who also provide services for this demographic.While our goal is to eventually fill this gap in communities throughout the country, we are starting this initiative in my home town of Philadelphia, PA and my home for the last 10 years, Union County

We are currently seeking a part-time intern with a talent for social media and an interest in the welfare of homelessness and its impacts on women’s health.

Specifically, we are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual who can commit to working 15 – 20 hours per week for a SIX MONTH commitment. For the mature & responsible candidate, hours are flexible around your schedule and after the first two months, half of them can be completed with greater flexibility.

You must have your own highly functioning laptop and reliable internet connection. Although working in the area is preferred, it is not required – the right candidate may work remotely.

This is a unique opportunity to work in an innovative, rapidly growing community-based organization, gain and improve skills, and gain experience working in collaboration with others.


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
─ Managing organization's social media channels – primarily Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – from Hootsuite dashboard
─ Monitoring & reporting online news updates concerning the organization's key interests
─ Engaging media to include Project Pixie in their coverage of the organization's events
─ Managing some administrative tasks as needed (e.g., updating databases, files, etc.)


─ Strong social media skills, and at least one year managing social media channel(s) for a club, organization or business – particularly Twitter and Facebook
─ Familiarity with Hootsuite or Tweetdeck
─ Outstanding oral & written skills
─ Ability to work both independently & as part of a team, managing multiple priorities
─ Attention to detail, organizational skills & flexibility
─ Strong track record of project management / project completion
─ Self-motivated and enthusiastic about learning about issues surrounding homelessness, women’s health, women’s rights, and the demystification of menstrual cycles – particularly in Northern Jersey or the Greater Philadelphia area; previous NGO experience preferred
─ Telecommuting/working at home required, and the availability of own computer or laptop & internet access
─ Major in one of the following preferred: Social Media, Communications, Marketing, Women’s’ Health
─ Photo and/or video editing skills desired
─ Strong background or interest in marketing, press relations
─ Development, Social Work, Social Justice, Criminology
─ Experience with Mail Chimp, Wordpress and/or html is a plus, but not required


Required - Writing Skills, Organisational Skills, Work Well Independently
Preferred - Bilingual-English/Spanish, Hootsuite, WordPress, Women's Health, Podcasting
