Description**The following internship is UNPAID**
The American Heart Association seeks an intern, part-time, to assist with fundraising and special events.
The qualified candidate must be a college student currently enrolled in classes (preferably on a full-time basis) who is organized and detail-oriented. The intern should have an academic major in writing, English, communications or public relations, previous fundraising experience, and the desire to work in a non-profit setting with a specific focus on event implementation.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being creative and who has a desire to learn and grow his/her skills through meaningful involvement in the mission of the American Heart Association. The intern will be considered an integral part of the team and, as such, his or her ideas and input will be welcomed.
Responsibilities-Report to the Louisville Go Red For Women Director and Heart Ball Administrative Associate
-Assist with writing, editing and proofreading
-Assist with mailings through management of database, printing labels, assembling packets, etc.
-Make calls to solicit donations or items needed
-Assist with event logistics and planning
-Assist with the day-of-event
-Miscellaneous clerical duties as needed
-Strong writing skills
-Strong telephone skills/etiquette
-Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
-Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
-Ability to work independently with little direction
-Comfortable working with a variety of people including volunteers, vendors, and donors
-Willingness to provide a background check and driving record
