Description

Objective: To ensure success of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) campaigns through a custom internship opportunity. Internship focus may include: Marketing/Publicity, Mission Integration, Event Planning, and Participant Recruitment

Timeline: Flexible, depending on assignment. Must be able to come in to the chapter office in Stamford, CT to complete internship tasks.

General Responsibilities:
o Provide up-to-date weekly reports to LLS staff
o Serve as an advocate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families
o Willing to cover the Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley area
o Willing to attend night or weekend events as needed

Internship Responsibilities May Include:
o Identify strategic places to distribute and post LLS information regarding upcoming events
o Identify and utilize special interest stories for community publications
o Identify opportunities to recruit new teams and participants
o Identify and solicit sponsorship opportunities
o Identify local businesses to distribute paper balloon icons
o Identify prospects for media and digital media support
o Manage social networking sites and identify new ways to utilize social networking by sharing LLS’s mission and mission moment while promoting LLS campaigns
o Plan and implement new and creative fundraising/recruitment ideas and/or incentives
o Represent LLS at health fairs, community networking events and volunteer fairs
o Create community awareness by contacting local hospitals, clinics, and support groups
o Become educated on all patient access and advocacy items, and become comfortable representing LLS
o Identify and recruit volunteers for upcoming events
o Post volunteer information throughout the community, on social media sites, and volunteer databases
o Match volunteers to specific responsibilities with staff assistance
o Solicit product and in-kind donations to be used day of events
o Work with LLS staff to identify event needs and assist with coordinating event planning logistics
