DescriptionThe Alzheimer's Association is the leading, global voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care and support, and research.
The Memphis office is part of the Mid South Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. We are looking for someone who can help us promote our mission through marketing, public relations, fundraising, and special events. This is an unpaid internship. The intern will report to the Senior Director of Special Events. Start date is ASAP. Completion date will be determined once applicant is accepted.
ResponsibilitiesResearch, locate and secure a media sponsor for our annual Walk to End Alzheimer's and various other third party events
Scout and recruit new potential sponsors and Team Captains/ participants (for Walk)
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming session
Take and follow direction with minimal supervision
Answer phones when staff members are unavailable
Scout and recruit new volunteer groups for Walk to End Alzheimer's
An interest in public relations, non-profit, sales, marketing and building professional relationships
RequirementsPursuing BS/BA in Marketing, Business, Communication, Social Work
Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher
Prefer junior or senior, but will consider other class levels
Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills are preferred
Must be able to work well with a diverse group of people
Must be comfortable with cold calling and speaking with strangers
Must adhere to Alzheimer's Association Agreement dealing with confidentiality
Report to Alzheimer's Association office located at 713 S. Mendenhall Rd. Memphis, TN 38117 on time
Commit to 4 hours/3 days a week in the office for a minimum of 10 weeks
Comfortable on the computer with basic skills in Word, Excel, internet, social media sites
Lift up to 40 lbs
Assist with at least two events outside the office per month (health fair, walk registration, luncheon, etc.)
