DescriptionAs a start-up not-for-profit, GLMPI was founded by social-entrepreneur and girls advocate, La'Keisha Gray-Sewell. With successful projects in Chicago-area schools and as the pioneer organization to host Chicago Day of the Girl for International Day of the Girl on October 11, 2012, GLMPI is positioning itself for magnanimous growth. To help get us there we are seeking a reciprocal relationship with an extraordinary student. This professional exchange will include resource and knowledge sharing, professional development, practical experience and college credit, as well as access to our high-profile network. Our intern will have some level of professional experience in the communications field and be an assertive go getter who adds to team GLMPI an affirmative outlook, fresh perspective, attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and ability to quickly embrace new ideas.
Responsibilities-Draft marketing collateral (e-newsletter, fact sheets, press releases, brochure content, presentations, flyers)
-Administrative support (manage calendar, phone calls/emails/faxes, mailings, correspond with vendors, data entry)
-Communications support (presentations, manage social media networks, develop digital media projects)
-Promotional support; raise awareness about organizational initiatives
-Attend professional conferences/meetings
Requirements-Must possess desire to empower urban girls of color
- Currently pursuing degree in Communications, Business Management, Social Services or closely related field.
-Excellent communications skills (Write effective copy, excelling in correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar, professional verbal and non-verbal skills).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Power Point and Excel) as well as Apple Keynote.
-Experience with Digital Media production.
-Knowledge of social media platforms, web content management systems.
-Some experience with HTML/graphics.
