DescriptionThe Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth have been, for decades, on the forefront of social change. In programs both in the US (including NJ, New Mexico, Maryland) and abroad (El Salvador and Haiti), the sisters have a deep-seeded and rich tradition of going where they are needed most. Name a social issue (Immigration, Migrant workers, domestic violence, war trauma, un/underinsured, hunger, homelessness, literacy...and more!), and we probably have a Sister working on it, right there on the front-lines. And she has probably been doing it, with very little fanfare, for many many years.
Choose Charity, our new volunteer initiative, places women in long(er) term volunteer positions (3 months to 1 year) at one of our sites. The volunteers live in community with the sisters. Since the Choose Charity initiative is very new, there are lots of opportunities for you to develop your skills. And, for us to tailor an internship to meet your needs and areas of interest. You would be based at the administrative offices of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, located in Morristown. We are on the campus with The College of Saint Elizabeth. There is a train stop in walking distance to the building. If you are interested, there are opportunities to work on-site with our community based programs.
For this particular internship, we are looking for someone to work with individuals on basic computer skills and help get them on social media. Thus giving them another way to share their experiences and stories.
